Energy Smart Colorado
Residents of Pitkin and Eagle Counties are eligible for the Energy Smart Home Assessment program. Participants will receive a full energy audit report outlining existing conditions and recommended improvements. Depending on the home's condition homeowners may be eligible for on the spot installation of a range of energy conservation measures. These could include a programmable thermostat, up to ten CFL lightbulbs, hot water pipe insulation, hot water tank insulation, a low flow showerhead, faucet aerators, electric outlet gaskets, and weather stripping.
Included in the Home Assessment is a combustion appliance safety inspection. This analysis looks at all the building's combustion appliances such as the boiler or furnace, hot water heater, gas range and oven and gas fireplace(s). The tests include a carbon monoxide test, draft measurement, spillage evaluation and worst-case depressurization of the combustion appliance zone (the mechanical room). This is a critical and often overlooked analysis to ensure the health and safety of the occupants.
